USMNT Announces 2026 World Cup Roster

The countdown to the biggest tournament in the world is officially on.

The U.S. Men’s National Team has announced its 26-player roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino finalized the squad as the team prepares for its final stretch before kickoff.

The group features a mix of experienced leaders and rising talent, with 13 players returning from the 2022 World Cup and 13 making their first appearance on the biggest stage. Christian Pulisic headlines the squad, alongside key names like Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, and Tim Weah.

The attacking group brings serious firepower. Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi, and Haji Wright combined for over 50 goals at the club level this past season, giving the U.S. a dangerous edge heading into the tournament.

Defensively, the team leans on experience with players like Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson, while the midfield remains one of the most balanced groups the U.S. has fielded in recent years.

The Biggest Talking Point: Diego Luna Left Out

One of the biggest conversations surrounding this roster isn’t who made it, but who didn’t.

Diego Luna was notably left off the final 26-man squad, sparking debate across fans and media. The young midfielder has been one of the more exciting and creative players in the U.S. pool, and many believed he had done enough to earn a spot.

For a lot of fans, Luna represents the future. A player with confidence, flair, and the ability to change a game in moments. Leaving him out raises questions about how much risk the U.S. is willing to take versus relying on more established names.

At the same time, roster decisions at this level are never easy. With limited spots and a deep player pool, tough calls are part of the process.

Still, this one will be talked about.

The U.S. will open its World Cup campaign on June 12 against Paraguay in Los Angeles, followed by matches against Australia and Türkiye in Group D.

Before that, the team will play two final preparation matches, including a matchup against Senegal and a send-off game against Germany.

This roster represents a new era for U.S. Soccer. A young, confident group with international experience, but still hungry to prove themselves on home soil.

Now the stage is set.
