CARSON, Calif. — Cruz Azul added another trophy to its growing collection on Friday night, defeating Toluca 3-1 at Dignity Health Sports Park to capture the 2026 Campeón de Campeones title.
After a tightly contested opening half that ended 1-1, La Máquina took control after the break behind a clinical performance from José Paradela, whose two-goal night proved to be the difference. Carlos Rodríguez also found the back of the net as Cruz Azul lifted its fourth Campeón de Campeones trophy.
First Half: A Battle Between Champions
Both Liga MX champions started with high intensity, creating early chances while battling for control in midfield. Cruz Azul nearly broke through in the opening minutes before finally finding the breakthrough in the 31st minute.
Paradela unleashed a powerful strike from outside the penalty area that beat Toluca goalkeeper Luis García, giving Cruz Azul a deserved 1-0 lead. Toluca responded just before halftime when Alexis Vega capitalized on a well-worked free-kick routine, sending the two sides into the locker room level at 1-1.
Cruz Azul Takes Over

Just ten minutes after the restart, a flowing passing sequence ended with captain Carlos Rodríguez calmly finishing to restore Cruz Azul’s advantage. Only minutes later, Paradela delivered the moment of the night, curling a dangerous free kick into the net to complete his brace and extend the lead to 3-1.
Toluca Pushes, Mier Responds
Toluca refused to go away quietly.
Los Diablos increased the pressure throughout the final 20 minutes, forcing goalkeeper Kevin Mier into several key saves while creating dangerous opportunities from set pieces and sustained possession around the Cruz Azul penalty area.
Despite the late pressure, Cruz Azul’s defense remained organized, closing out the match and securing another piece of silverware.
